Job Duties:

  • Prepare and create appetizers, entrees
  • Wear issued uniforms and/or adhere to dress code
  • Communicate clearly, honestly, and respectfully with all restaurant staff, fellow peers, parents, and volunteers
  • Assist with culinary preparations and clean up
  • Operate mechanized culinary equipment
  • Follow all restaurant safety and security procedures

Learning Outcomes: 

  • Practice safe and sanitary food handling procedures
  • Identify and fabricate various cuts of proteins including meats, poultry, and seafood
  • Provide good customer relations and food service
  • Exercise knowledge of Caribbean and American cuisine
  • Have an understanding of restaurant management
  • Learn how to work within time constraints
  • Exercise consistent portion control skills
  • Apply subject matter learning in evaluation of “real world” situations and accordingly formulate immediate course of action
